Frequently Asked Questions Aussie Furniture Care Furniture Restorer / Wood Restoration Oil 250 ml
This oil restores aged or faded wood by infusing penetrating nourishment, reviving depth of tone, and protecting against further drying and wear. It combines restorative and polishing properties to bring medium-to-dark timber back to life.
Best used on medium to dark stained or natural woods that show signs of dryness, fading, or minor wear. It’s not recommended for very light wood tones, as color change may occur.
The product leverages an advanced anti-smear technology so residue, fingerprints, or oiliness don’t linger on the surface. Users get a revitalised finish that feels smooth to the touch.
-
Test a small, hidden area first for colour compatibility.
-
If treating deep damage, faded colour or historic wear, apply using super-fine (“0000”) steel wool to help penetration and remove light scratches.
-
If the surface is in good order and just want to refresh the colour and sheen, use a soft cotton or fine microfibre cloth to apply evenly. Allow time for absorption, then buff gently with a clean cloth until smooth.
-
For lighter refreshes, two cloths (one for application, one for buffing) suffice.
Treatment frequency depends on use and exposure, but many owners apply once or twice per year on indoor furniture. Heavily used or sun-exposed pieces may benefit from more frequent maintenance.
Yes it will as the restorer contains a stain in it's formula. The oil enhances the natural depth and richness of the timber, which may result in darkening—especially on lighter woods. Since it’s intended for medium-to-dark tones, that effect is typically desirable. Always perform a patch test before proceeding.
The restorer is not a structural repair solution for fixing cracks, holes or gouges for that type of damage you would need to use a wax filler stick. To help diminish the appearance of fine surface scratches you would need to apply the oil with some "0000" Super Fine Steel Wool. For adding colour to faded surfaces apply with a soft non abrasive cloth and remove (buff) with a second clean non abrasive soft cloth.
Yes. The formula is free from harsh petrochemicals. That said, standard precautions apply — keep out of reach from children, ensure adequate ventilation during application and allow the finish to dry fully before use.
Yes. This restoration oil also comes in 1 L tins and 5 L drums for larger projects or workshop use.
