Frequently Asked Questions Jimmy Possum Liquid Wax (Natural & Brown) 250ml
What is Jimmy Possum Liquid Wax?
Jimmy Possum Liquid Wax is a premium beeswax furniture polish formulated from pure Australian beeswax and natural tree oils. Both the Natural and Brown versions share the same nourishing base formula, designed to clean, protect, and enhance timber finishes without buildup or silicones.
What’s the difference between the Natural and Brown variants?
-
Natural version: Neutral in pigment, designed to maintain the original colour of the timber and is safe across virtually all wood tones.
-
Brown version: Contains a subtle brown tint to enrich mid to darker tones and help mask minor light scratches or tonal inconsistencies on medium-to-dark wood surfaces.
Choose Natural for light, neutral, or mixed woods; choose Brown when you want to deepen or harmonise on warmer or darker timber.
Which furniture is it suitable for?
Both versions can be used on:
-
Solid timber furniture (tables, sideboards, chairs)
-
Veneered timber surfaces
-
Antique and modern wood pieces
-
Painted or stained furniture where the base is sealed
Avoid use on raw, unfinished wood or surfaces with a fresh, uncured coating.
What are the main benefits and features?
-
Non-buildup & smear-free: Leaves a clean, natural look without greasy residue.
-
Protection + Nourishment: Seals surface pores and helps reduce moisture evaporation, guarding against cracking or drying out.
-
Easy maintenance: Ideal for regular upkeep—keeps the finish looking fresh between deeper wax treatments.
-
Silicone- and petrochemical-free: Safe and gentle for both furniture and users.
-
Australian-made craftsmanship, reflecting local quality and integrity.
How do I apply the liquid wax correctly?
-
Ensure the furniture surface is clean and dry.
-
Put a small amount of wax on a soft lint-free cloth.
-
Rub gently along the wood grain in circular strokes, applying an even thin layer.
-
Let it dry for a few minutes (it should start to “set”).
-
Buff with a clean, dry cloth to bring out a natural, smear-free sheen.
How often should I use liquid wax?
Use weekly or fortnightly for high-touch surfaces (e.g. tables, chairs), and monthly for less-used pieces. It's ideal for maintaining the finish between heavier wax or paste treatments.
Will using the wax change the appearance of my wood?
-
Natural wax: Will not noticeably change the timber’s original tone—only enhances grain definition and lustre.
-
Brown wax: Can subtly deepen and warm up the tone of medium to dark woods, which can be desirable for masking wear or harmonising mixed timber pieces.
Always perform a patch test in an inconspicuous area to confirm how your specific wood reacts.
Can the wax help conceal scratches or wear?
Yes, especially the Brown variant — its light tint helps to diminish the visual appearance of light scratches or small imperfections on darker timbers. Natural wax, being pigment-neutral, is less effective for concealing but still provides protective shine and nourishment.
⚠️ Disclaimer:
Always test in an inconspicuous area before using. Always test on a small, hidden section before first use.
Results may vary depending on furniture age, finish, and type of timber. Aussie Furniture Care is not responsible for damage caused by incorrect use.
Jimmy suggests applying a small amount of liquid wax on a clean soft cloth spreading the wax in a circular motion along the grain of the timber and allow a few minutes to dry.
Using a second clean soft cloth buff off excess to a smear free finish and a long lasting shine.
When buffing off turn the cloth regularly for best results.
