Frequently Asked Questions AFC Finishing & Liming Wax White 150gr
What is AFC Finishing & Liming Wax White 150 g and what does it do?
This is a pigmented finishing wax with white (liming) tone, formulated for use on raw, painted, sealed, or polished timber surfaces. It allows you to achieve a soft whitewashed or aged “limed” effect while also providing nourishment and protection for your wood.
On what types of surfaces can I apply this wax?
You can safely apply it to:
-
Raw or unfinished timber (to create a whitewash/liming look)
-
Chalk-painted or white painted furniture
-
Sealed, polished, or stained wood surfaces (to refresh or tint them)
It’s versatile across raw → finished wood surface
How is it different from standard furniture wax?
Its difference lies in its white/liming pigment:
-
It gives a subtle whitewashed or limed appearance, not just a clear protective coat.
-
It works as both a finish and a polish, blending aesthetics with function.
-
It’s gentler and more decorative for paints, whites, and pale finishes rather than purely for protection.
How do I apply AFC Liming Wax properly?
-
Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of dust.
-
Use a soft cloth, brush, or buffing pad to apply a thin even layer, along the grain or in circular strokes, depending on the effect you want.
-
Let it sit for 15–20 minutes (or until it feels dry to the touch).
Will this wax change the colour or tone of my wood?
Yes — the white pigment will impart a softening, brightening, or aged “limed” tone, particularly effective for white, pale, or chalk-painted furniture. On raw wood, it creates a lightwash; on darker woods, its effect is more subtle, blending into the existing tone. Always test in an inconspicuous area first.
How often should I reapply or refresh the liming wax?
Use it whenever the whitewashed or limed appearance starts to dull, fade, or wear — typically every 6 to 12 months depending on use, exposure, and the surface’s traffic. Light buffing in between helps retain the effect.
Does this wax leave residue or greasy buildup?
No. It is designed to buff out cleanly, leaving a soft sheen without heavy wax buildup. Because it’s a finishing wax rather than thick protective wax, it avoids excessive layers over time.
Is AFC Liming Wax White safe for indoor use and furniture?
Yes. It is produced with natural ingredients (pure Australian beeswax, carnauba wax, and white pigment) and contains no harmful petrochemicals. Its formulation is safe for finished indoor furniture, provided ventilation and standard care precautions are used.
Can I use it in moisture-exposed areas (e.g. bathroom vanities)?
While it provides some surface protection and sealing, it is not intended for continuous exposure to water or heavy moisture. It may resist occasional splashes but is not a waterproofing product.
⚠️ Disclaimer:
Always test in an inconspicuous area before using. Always test on a small, hidden section before first use.
