Improve your furniture repair with Wax Putty Bricks!

Specifically engineered with synthetic wax, these wax filler sticks serve as a dependable solution for repairing
noticeable damage like splits, dents, holes and gouges in wooden furnishings and floors.

NOTE: Wax Filler Sticks are not suitable for repairs on flat surfaces such as table tops or floors where there is only an indentation.

Suitable for Filling but Not For Moulding: The putty bricks are much harder than furniture repair crayons but not as hard as beeswax sticks, so they’re not suitable for moulding to shape on edges and are much better suited to be used for filling purposes only. For a harder wax filler stick use pure beeswax sticks they are more suitable for moulding to a shape.

The wax putty brick is specially crafted for larger splits or cracks that require a fair amount filling.

Can be painted: Unlike pure beeswax sticks and furniture repair crayons, wax putty bricks can be stained or top coated with wax, scratch fix pens, lacquers, paints or varnishes.

No Pre-Warming: Being a synthetic wax they are very pliable and easy to use, they don’t require any warming up or melting.

Understanding Repairs: Not all waxes are created equal. The choice between a repair crayon, beeswax stick, or our wax putty brick will depend on the nature and location of the damage.
Suitable for all wood types including:
Raw wood pre-painting, Stained & Finished Wood with Splits or Cracks, Lacquered Wood and More

The product offers an effective and hassle-free solution for wood repairs.

Frequently Asked Questions: Wax Putty Bricks Synthetic Wax Filler Sticks

Wax Putty Bricks are solid blocks of soft wax used to fill deeper splits, cracks, holes, and missing wood fragments in timber surfaces. They serve as a malleable filler that takes stain and polish well.

Clean out dust or debris from the crack. Slightly widen the gap if needed to allow wax to reach full depth. Heat the wax slightly (warm hands or low heat) to ease application.

  • Press softened wax into the crack, ensuring full depth fill.

  • Overfill slightly to allow for shrinkage.

  • Let cool/harden.

  • Use a sharp blade to shave flush.

  • Sand with ultra-fine abrasive (0000 steel wool) and polish to finish.

Many wax putty bricks are stainable or pigmented to match common wood tones. Alternatively, use a touch-up pen over the surface to align colour after filling.

High-quality putties remain slightly flexible, resisting cracking under minimal movement. Some shrinkage may occur—hence the advice to overfill and shave down later.

Yes. Once cured, use ultra-fine abrasives like "0000" Superfine Steel Wool. Then stain or use a Scratch Fix Pen to tone and finish off with wax or polish to integrate seamlessly.

Avoid in structural repairs (loose joints) or very deep, missing wood areas that require glue, epoxy, or wood replacement. Wax is primarily cosmetic filler, not structural repair.

Always test in an inconspicuous area before using. Always test on a small, hidden section before first use.
Results may vary depending on furniture age, finish, and type of timber. Aussie Furniture Care is not responsible for damage caused by incorrect use.
