Frequently Asked Questions: United Pure Dye Transfer Cleaner for Leather

United Pure Dye Transfer Cleaner removes colour migration from clothing, cushions, or belts that rub off onto leather upholstery. It’s specifically designed to break down dye molecules without stripping or drying the leather’s finish. Use it as soon as discolouration appears, before the stain becomes permanent.
👉 Ideal for light-coloured lounges, car seats and handbags exposed to denim or dark fabrics.

Safe on finished, pigmented, and top-coated leathers (most household and automotive leather).
⚠️ Do not use on: Aniline, suede, or nubuckthese absorb liquids deeply and can be damaged by any liquid cleaner.

  • Shake the bottle gently.

  • Apply a small amount of Dye Transfer Cleaner to a soft white cloth.

  • Gently wipe over the affected area using circular motions.

  • Repeat if needed—don’t rub aggressively.

  • Wipe with a clean damp cloth and allow to dry.

  • Always follow with AFC Leather Conditioning Cream or Aegis Leather Protector to replenish moisture and restore protection.

The sooner the better. Dye stains bond to the leather finish over time, becoming more difficult to remove. Treat within 24–48 hours of noticing the mark for best results.

It’s effective on transfer stains (from fabrics and dye rub-off) but not on deep ink or permanent dye stains. For ink,  contact a professional leather technician.

When used correctly—small area, gentle action, light pressure—it won’t harm the coating. Overuse or harsh scrubbing can dull the finish, which is why conditioning afterward is essential. Always follow instructions on the bottle and test in an inconspicuous area before proceeding.

Yes, but test first. It’s formulated primarily for genuine leather but is usually safe on coated synthetics. Always spot-test on an inconspicuous area before use.

Only as needed. It’s a targeted treatment, not a routine cleaner. For regular maintenance, use AFC 5-Minute Leather Cleaner followed by AFC Leather Conditioner every few months.

After cleaning, apply Aegis Leather Protector to create a breathable barrier. This helps repel dye molecules and allows for easier wipe-off if transfer occurs again.

No: It's made in the USA,  it's only stocked in Australia

Always test in an inconspicuous area before full application. Results may vary depending on furniture age, finish, and type of timber. Aussie Furniture Care is not responsible for damage caused by incorrect use.
